What Was & What Is & What’s to Come

Since the last update in October regarding this new church planting effort, we’ve been working extensively in two main areas: home improvements and searching our hearts!
Our new home is currently under some heavy-duty construction and we have some amazing friends who are making magic happen in our new home. We hope to be moved within the next two months. We’re also finishing up some minor face lift items in our current home with hopes for a potential buyer very soon.

Also, we’ve been doing some reflection and dreaming for what it looks like to move forward into this new ministry. Some of the work that has been done includes:

-laying out our vision, values and mission as well as solidifying our foundational beliefs
-developing a potential growth process and strategy
-identifying a general disciple-making plan that will require hands on adjustments
-writing and preparing for upcoming vision-casting nights
-meetings and talks with key leaders and friends both at the local and state level to affirm our       plan and to get experienced feedback

As we’ve continued to have conversations with people about the vision of a new church plant in our city, we’re so very encouraged by their response and affirmation. I can’t wait to see what God does next!

Our next steps are quickly approaching. What we believe will come next is obviously relocation to our new neighborhood. Within days of settling in, we plan to host a number of vision-casting nights at our home. These nights are considered a general invite which means you are invited! Ashley and I both feel a strong leading to avoid asking specific individuals to join our team. We’ve hesitated directly asking even our closest of friends as we desire for God to raise up whom He will to join this effort. These vision-casting nights will consist of casting the vision of this church plant, along with our values and mission. We’ll communicate how we have arrived at this spot in our lives and what we believe God wants us to do. We will then have a time of Q&A to hopefully give everyone a chance to consider their role. From these meetings, we will be praying that God would choose those for the work He has prepared for them. The dates for these gatherings are contingent upon completion of our new home but are coming very soon. I CANNOT WAIT!

While we wait, we are developing a plan for casting this vision to our church family with hopes that they will embrace this vision and affirm us in this call. We desire to seek a biblical ‘setting apart’ as was the case for Paul and Barnabas at Antioch.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me     Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying     they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
                                                                                                                    Acts 13:2-3

-for our family’s patience and care during this time of transition
-for God to continue going before us and preparing the way
-for continued clarity of the vision for our city
-for faithfulness to the Gospel, no matter the cost
-for our church family to be encouraged by and embrace this vision
-for God to reveal to you His plan for you and your role in this ministry

All of this so that God would be made much of in our neighborhood and to the nations!

Blake, so excited about this work! I commit to cover you, Ashley, the family, your extended church family and our city in this. I am praying that the Lord will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. That the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened. That you would know all that you need to know including the hope to which you are called and each step that you’re to take. Praying that as you meditate in His Word the light at your feet and on the path before you is bright and that you follow it step by step. Love and blessings to the Formans.
